Terence has been playing two guitars at the same time while singing since 1996. In 1997 he composed music exclusively on two guitars for the guided meditaion/relaxation CD “Progressive Insight”. The first album of it’s kind, all the instruments (except the drums) were performed using tapping technique. The bass and rhythm guitar are tapped by the left hand, while the right hand taps out the the lead guitar, and is layered with a guitar synthesizer to produce piano, strings, organ, and rhodes sounds (both guitars are always in standard guitar tuning). After years of woodshedding live, Terence debuted as a rock singer on ”Void of Course” (2004) and “Songs For Two Guitars” (2005).

On his 2nd european tour he perfomed songs on two acoustics at once on the album “Live Acoustic Solo in the Netherlands” (2005). Jos Van Oost and Richard Heeres of the Netherlands approached Terence with the concept of the crossing necks on an acoustic. Terence chose the wood and the neck angle, and Richard Heeres took the innovation to the next level (Gitaar Plus Magazine, June 2008, Nov 2008, April 2009).

In 2009 Terence debuted the Terence Hansen/Heeres Double-Neck Acoustic at the Acoustic Strings Festival in Raalte, Netherlands, (Gitaar Plus Magazine, Aug 2009).  Terence has since been featured in Guitar Maker Magazine (Winter 2009), Guitar Acoustic Magazine (April 2010),  Akustik Gitarre Magazine (Nov 2009). Terence has been perfoming his solo show exculsively on the acoustic double-neck, sometimes using a looper, porch board, and vocal harmonizer (not an auto-tuner). Terence will debut his signature Heeres electric double-neck version of the acoustic at Guitar Nation London 2011.

The Terence Hansen Trio re-formed with  Shaun Thomas (Insatiable) on drums, and Richie Vazquez (Menudo) on bass, and has since become one of the  busiest bands in the U.S. This August 2011, the Trio is embarking on a month long tour of Europe to follow up it’s soon to be released album. The 8th studio/live album features Grammy winning bassist Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi), drummer Richard Hiejerman (Rik Hoogendoorn), Sjord Bounder (of the Netherlands), and drummer CJ Burton (Air Supply).

In 2010 the innovative You Rock Guitar was released  featuring samples and back-up tracks made by Terence Hansen and Doug Morton (FX). The guitar can be used for Guitar Hero, or plugged into and amp and played like a real guitar. It just won Best Innovation in USA Weekend (http://www.usaweekend.com/article/20101105/ENTERTAINMENT08/1107032). It is also an amazing MIDI guitar controller, and Terence is now writing and improvising music for two You Rock guitars…

Terence recently was one of the headliners at Guitar Nation London 2010 with Steve Vai (interview & video at http://www.live4guitar.com).

Terence also still gets his full metal shred on with 80′s pop metal tribute/comedy act Nigel and the Metal Dogs as his alter ego ‘Dave Granger’ when they tour.

Terence’s  acoustic double-neck, stratocaster, an nylon guitar work can be heard on the soundtracks in the Monteray Bay Aquarium in San Diego, CA., and also in Sandy, UT.

Terence’s past gigs include 3 1/2 years with the School of Rock as school Music Director, Talent Development Director, Little Rock Director, production panelist for Summer Jam 2009, columnist for JAM Magazine, songwriting coach for Singing For Success ’03, ’04, mentor for Season for Non-Violence song camp ’07,  musical director for Progressive Insights guided meditation/relaxation program, co-film scorer for the full-length feature film NightFall, a Music Recreation Director/Job Coach for people with developmental disabilities, and as a popular but now semi-retired private guitar instructor/mentor. Terence has played on and produced scores of singer/songwriters, commercials, bands, and poets.
