I did not add any chords to this song. Just Nates two riffs repeated. Nate was technically able to play most of the solos, although I took my liberties and made them up. He really blew my mind on his last lesson, altrenate picking sixteenth notes across the strings, one note per string at 120 bpm. I put in some of the apreggios he could play this way. When recording this song, I imagined him giving me his honest opinions about what I was doing with his music.
I hope this would have been ok for him. My heart aches that he wasn’t the one playing this in my studio. My heart goes out to his mom and sisters, family and friends, and everyone at the School of Rock who loved him dearly.
